DAYTON MAYOR NAN WHALEY TO DONATE WEDNESDAY

DAYTON,Ohio - Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley join the effort to prevent a regional blood shortage by donating Wednesday, March 18 at 10 a.m. at the Community Blood Center Dayton Donor Center, 349 S. Main St.

CBC is taking emergency measures to avert a regional blood shortage as the community acts to halt the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19.

CBC is urging eligible members of the community to donate blood and urging blood drive sponsors to keep the blood drives they have scheduled. Make an appointment to donate at www.DonorTime.com or call (937) 461-3220.

DAYTON MAYOR TO DONATE MARCH 18

Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley is an experienced blood donor and a supporter of Dayton City Hall blood drives. Mayor Whaley helped kick off the "New Year's Resolution Blood Drive" at the Dayton CBC Donor Center on Dec. 27, 2019 with a welcome message to donors and media, toured the donor room greeting donors, and then donated.  Her O-positive blood type is in high demand.  With her Wednesday, March 18 donation she will reach her one gallon donation milestone.

BLOOD SUPPLY UPDATE:

Strong donor support Monday, March 16 helped maintain the blood supply. The Dayton CBC Donor Center totaled 104 donors, 88 red cell donations and 12 platelet and plasma. In mobile activity Father Paul Vieson Center totaled 66 donors, 52 red cells, 7 platelet/plasma. Versailles Pride & Progress Assoc. totaled 136 donors, 116 red cells, 12 platelet and plasma. Whole blood donors totaled 354 at all locations. CBC's hospital inventory remains at 5-to-10 day supply across blood types.

DONOR STRONG BLOOD DRIVE MARCH 16-22

Everyone who registers to donate Monday, March 16 through Sunday, March 22 at the CBC Donor Center, 349 South Main St. will receive a free Kings Island ticket or free Cinemark movie ticket, plus the current donor gift of "Spring into Giving" socks.

CBC DAYTON DONOR CENTER NOW OPEN ON SUNDAYS

Beginning Sunday, March 22 the Dayton CBC Donor Center will be open on Sundays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

DAYTON DONOR CENTER HOURS:  Monday-Thursday 7 a.m. - 6 p.m., Friday 7 a.m. - 4 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Do not be afraid to donate!

  • The blood supply is safe, and it is safe to donate.

  • Donors must be in good health. People with any cough or cold symptoms should not come to a blood drive.

  • There are no reported cases of coronavirus transmission through blood transfusion.

  • CBC is increasing hygienic and sanitary procedures.

  • Blood drives are not mass gatherings. They are controlled events with infection safeguards to protect donors, staff, and blood products.
