‘BE THE GOAT’ TO SUSTAIN SUMMER BLOOD SUPPLY

April 22, 2021

DAYTON, OHIO - Any time is the right time to help save a life.  That's why blood donors are the "GOAT" - the Greatest of All Time! Summer is a troublesome time for sustaining the blood supply and Community Blood Center is counting on donors to support the goals of the May 3 through Oct. 30 GOAT campaign.

CBC is rolling out the first of three distinct "GOAT" design t-shirts and challenging donors to collect all three by donating three times from May through October. Get the first t-shirt when you register to donate May 3 through June 26. Make an appointment at www.DonorTime.com or call (937) 461-3220.

The top goal for the GOAT campaign is to prevent a summer blood shortage. Donors can help by making a commitment to donate three times and collect all three "GOAT" campaign t-shirt designs.

An important message of the GOAT campaign is to remind donors there is no deferral or delay in donating blood after receiving any COVID-19 vaccine.

Another goal of the GOAT campaign is to increase donor visits to the Dayton CBC by at least 50 donors per day. This is vital because of continued COVID-19 restrictions, no high school blood drives, and the impact of vacations and outdoor activities on community blood drives.

Have you ever given blood? Another challenge of GOAT campaign is to become a first-time donor.  The final challenge is to welcome new sponsors to join the CBC mission by hosting new blood drives. Call (937) 461-3220 for more information on how you can help.

"COVID is not over, and the traditional challenges of spring and summer are just beginning," said CBC Donor Relations Director Tracy Morgan. "This is 'Blood Donor Year' because we can't let down our guard.  To get through hard times we need donors to be 'The Greatest of All Time!'"
