DAYTON, Ohio - Now is the time to give blood and help Community Blood Center prevent a spring and summer blood shortage.

Register to donate at the "Time to Be Great Blood Drive" Friday, May 7 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dayton CBC Donation Center, 349 South Main St. and receive a Kroger $10 gift card, plus the introductory "Blood Donors are the GOAT - Greatest of All Time" t-shirt.

Appointments are required.  Schedule online at or call (937) 461-3220.

CBC launched the "Blood Donors are the GOAT" campaign on May 3 to encourage donations in a challenging time. Necessary COVID-19 restrictions continue to impact donors, blood drives, and the blood supply.

These concerns are now combined with the traditional challenges that come with warm weather, vacation travel, and the gradual return of pre-pandemic activities.

CBC is introducing the first of three distinct "GOAT" design t-shirts and encouraging donors to collect all three by donating three times from May through October. Get the first t-shirt when you register to donate with CBC May 3 through June 26.

The top goal of the GOAT campaign is to prevent a summer blood shortage. CBC reminds donors there is no deferral or delay in donating blood after receiving any COVID-19 vaccine.

Important goals of the GOAT campaign include increasing donor visits to the Dayton CBC by at least 50 donors per day, encouraging first-time donations, and welcoming new blood drive sponsors. Call (937) 461-3220 for more information on how you can help.
