DAYTON, Ohio - Community Blood Center is depending on donors to be "the greatest of all time" by donating during the still COVID-impacted summer of 2021.

Everyone who registers to donate at the "Be The GOAT Blood Drive" Friday, June 25 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dayton CBC, 349 S. Main St. will receive a Kroger $10 gift card and the "Blood Donors are the GOAT - Greatest of All Time" t-shirt.

Appointments are encouraged and walk-ins are accepted as space allows. There is no deferral or delay in donating after receiving any COVID-19 vaccine. Schedule online at or call (937) 461-3220.

Donors helped CBC recover from the severe blood shortage that followed the Memorial Day weekend. More help is needed to prevent another seasonal shortage as the July 4th holiday period approaches.

Many corporate and community blood drives are not at full size due to lingering COVID-19 restrictions. Meanwhile the easing of restrictions is encouraging more summer activities and vacation travel that distract people from donating. The demand for blood rises as emergency room usage increases.

CBC is welcoming first-time donors and new blood drive sponsors. Call (937) 461-3220 to learn how you can help.
