DAYTON, Ohio - Help maintain the mid-summer blood supply by donating at the "Fast Food Friday" blood drive Friday, July 9 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dayton Community Blood Center, 349 South Main St.

Everyone who registers to donate will receive a McDonald's or Subway $5 gift card, plus the "Blood Donors are the GOAT" t-shirt. Appointments are encouraged and walk-ins are accepted as space allows.  Schedule online at or call (937) 461-3220.

More than 530 whole blood donors and 87 platelet and plasma donors supported the July 2, 3, and 5 "Christmas in July Blood Drive." CBC was able to emerge from the holiday weekend with a strong supply of type O blood, which has been in high demand throughout the pandemic and early summer.

The goal of the "Fast Food Friday Blood Drive" is to avoid a slump in donations like what CBC experienced after the Memorial Day weekend.

"I don't think there's a single blood center across the country that can say they are back to normal," said CBC Donor Relations Director Tracy Morgan. Hospitals have resumed elective surgeries and emergency room usage is increasing, just as many donors are taking summer vacations. It is an extremely important time to give."

CBC is encouraging first-time donors and inviting new blood drive sponsors. Call (937) 461-3220 to learn how you can help.
