DAYTON, Ohio - The Ohio Renaissance Festival promises to rise "like the Phoenix" from last year's pandemic postponement and blood donors can get a free ticket at the Labor Day Weekend "RenFest Blood Drive" Friday, Sept. 3 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 4 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and special hours Sunday, Sept. 5 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dayton Community Blood Center, 349 South Main St. Schedule an appointment at or call (937) 461-3220.

Donors can choose a free Kroger $10 gift card instead of the ticket, and everyone who registers to donate will also receive the new "Cancer Fighters are the GOAT" t-shirt honoring September Blood Cancer and Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and October Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Cancer Fighters t-shirt is the third and final design in the CBC "Blood Donors are the GOAT" campaign. CBC is challenging eligible donors to collect all three designs before the campaign ends on Oct. 30.

The free tickets are courtesy of the Ohio Renaissance Festival which traditionally partners with CBC to help encourage donations during the challenging Labor Day holiday period. CBC will be open Sunday, Sept. 5 for a special day of collections but will be closed Monday, Sept. 6 for Labor Day. The ticket is good for free admission on any operating day of the 2021 season.

As Shakespeare said about the plague, it was a time to stand on distance. COVID-19 interrupted the Ohio Renaissance Festival's 30-year run by cancelling the 2020 season. The festival returns Saturday, Sept. 4 and operates on a weekend schedule through Oct. 31. Visit for more details.
