"Dr. Alexander has been a valuable asset to the organization over the past 6 years and we welcome him into this position," stated David M. Smith, M.D., Chief Executive Officer of CBC/CTS. "I am confident Dr. Alexander will excel in his new position as Medical Director and will effectively lead the medical staff at CBC/CTS," added Dr. Smith.
Prior to joining CBC/CTS in 2003, Dr. Alexander was the Medical Director at the American Red Cross Blood Services Texas Division. Dr. Alexander began his career as an Anatomic and Clinical Staff Pathologist with Texoma Pathology Associates in Denison, Texas.
Prior to earning a Medical Doctor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1989 he worked for four years as a Petroleum/Chemical Engineer. Dr. Alexander served his residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, followed by a fellowship in Transfusion Medicine/Blood Banking, at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He is Board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, as well as Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine.He is also certified by the American Society of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics as an ASHI Laboratory Director
Dr. Alexander is a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, American Association of Blood Banks, American Association of Tissue Banks, American Society for Apheresis and the American Association of Histocompatibility and Immuno>
